Join us on a journey to discover Anastasia’s impact within the clinical trial landscape, showcasing the passion and dedication that define her role at PSI.

Describe your role within PSI and how your role impacts a clinical trial?

I serve as the Data Management Group Lead, responsible for overseeing Data Management (DM) activities within projects where PSI DM was contracted, I support the Project Data Manager. My role involves ensuring the optimal delivery of this study segment.

I act as the custodian of DM templates, involving the creation of new templates and the enhancement of existing ones based on departmental experiences and lessons learned. Additionally, I participate in review of PSI DM Quality Systems Documents.

In my capacity, I contribute to the training programs for both the DM department and other departments. I play a role in line managing my colleagues, guiding them in overcoming challenges, and fostering their professional growth. Another facet of my responsibilities involves active collaboration with one of our primary Electronic Data Capture (EDC) vendors, Medidata. This collaboration in particular includes the review of their new releases.

Lastly, I supervise automation activities within our departments, aiming to streamline processes, save time, and enhance overall efficiency.

How did you become interested in clinical research, and what motivated you to pursue a career in this field?

To me, a clinical trial project represents a complex and dynamic system. I liken it to fractals in the sense that each aspect mirrors or contains elements of occurrences in other aspects. For instance, in Data Management, there is a need to assimilate, comprehend, and convert various elements into data, such as the assessments of subjects, the organization of drug dispensation in the study, the speed of subject enrollment, the timing for Stats to review results, the contracted labs, and internal issues with data flow.

These are precisely the types of systems that capture my interest.

Moreover, it serves as an ongoing learning environment, both scientifically and in terms of the ‘handcraft’ involved. The rules of the process tend to evolve, becoming more intricate or changing, and new rules may emerge, similar to shifts in study designs. Consequently, there is a continual opportunity to acquire new knowledge and share insights with the team. This evolving process is particularly exhilarating for me.

What do you find most rewarding about your career at PSI?

I am delighted to be a member of an exceptional team, surrounded by amazing colleagues both within the company and specifically within my department. These individuals inspire me, and I consistently learn from them. I consider myself fortunate to be a part of this knowledge-sharing community, benefiting from the wisdom of my senior managers in an environment they have cultivated.

This supportive atmosphere has enabled me to evolve rapidly, ensuring that monotony is never a concern. Beginning as a Data Manager, I progressed through roles such as Lead Data Manager and Senior Data Manager to my current position as a DM Group Lead. This growth is not only about the expansion of my responsibilities but also involves dealing with increasingly complex projects and making a greater contribution to departmental activities. Significantly, this professional growth has been entirely within PSI.

What excites you about your career and what advice would you give to someone looking to join our team?

What excites me most about my career is the diverse range of growth opportunities available both as a Data Management professional and as a manager. The chance to continuously learn from outstanding individuals within our team is a constant source of inspiration.

My advice to someone looking to join our team is to embrace hard work, set ambitious goals, and maintain consistency in both professional and managerial aspects. The combination of diverse growth areas and the collaborative environment here creates an exciting and fulfilling career journey.
