At PSI, careers are more than just a series of roles—they’re journeys of growth, opportunity, and impact. This is especially true for Jody, who began her journey at PSI in 2021 as a Clinical Research Associate (CRA) I and has since risen to the role of Lead CRA. Her story highlights not only the professional development opportunities at PSI but also the company’s supportive culture that fosters success at every stage.
With a background as a Study Coordinator focusing on oncology and infectious diseases, Jody transitioned into the world of monitoring through the encouragement of a friend who recommended PSI. Despite having no prior monitoring experience, she embraced the challenge, relying on PSI’s comprehensive training and mentorship to navigate the transition.
Read Jody’s story below to learn how she grew within PSI, building meaningful relationships, advancing into leadership roles, and contributing to clinical research initiatives that make a difference in the lives of patients worldwide.
I joined PSI in 2021 as a CRA I, taking my first steps into monitoring after working as a Study Coordinator specializing in oncology and infectious diseases. Transitioning to the CRA role felt like a natural progression for me, but it wasn’t without its challenges. A friend who worked at PSI encouraged me to apply, sharing stories of the company’s positive work culture. Even though I had no prior monitoring experience, I decided to take the leap, and thankfully, I was selected for the position.
At first, I was incredibly nervous. I understood the responsibilities of a monitor from the site perspective, but I lacked hands-on experience. PSI’s CRA induction training course, led by experienced professionals, quickly became my lifeline. This comprehensive program equipped me with the skills and confidence I needed to succeed.
Once I completed the training, I hit the ground running. My first sponsor has remained my primary sponsor across three clinical trials, allowing me to build a strong and collaborative relationship with them. This continuity has been invaluable, enabling me to foster a meaningful partnership between the CRO and sponsor. Along the way, I’ve had enriching experiences, such as traveling internationally and advancing through the ranks from CRA II to Senior CRA I, and now, Lead CRA.
In my current role, I have the privilege of leading and mentoring other CRAs, which has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of my career. Working alongside an exceptional team of CRAs, Clinical Trial Administrators, Regional Project Leads, and Project Managers, I’ve come to appreciate the collective effort it takes to ensure the success of every project.
What Contributed to My Growth and Success and the Impact of PSI’s Culture
One of the key factors in my development has been PSI’s CRA induction program. This training not only provided the foundational skills I needed but also connected me with seasoned colleagues who shared their insights and guidance. Programs like the Future 30 Explorers have also played a significant role in my career growth, helping me discover and refine abilities I hadn’t fully recognized in myself.
PSI’s culture of support and collaboration has had the biggest impact on my success. From the beginning, I’ve been surrounded by teams that prioritize clear communication, mentorship, and mutual respect. This supportive environment has given me the confidence to embrace new challenges, knowing that I have a strong network behind me.
The company’s emphasis on professional growth is also evident in its tailored training programs and opportunities for advancement. These initiatives have fostered a sense of inclusion and teamwork, helping me build strong relationships with both colleagues and sponsors.
What drives me to continue growing in my career is the potential for ongoing development. PSI’s encouragement and support empower me to tackle challenges and strive for more. Knowing that my work contributes to meaningful clinical research and impacts lives provides a deep sense of purpose.
