PSI Data Protection Notice: Scientific Expert

PSI CRO AG, (PSI, we) is a global contract research organization located in Baarerstrasse 113a, 6300 Zug, Switzerland. Our professional interest is to support pharmaceutical companies, sponsors, to conduct clinical studies.
We would like to invite you to be part of the Scientific Advisory Board instituted at PSI.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE AND LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
To engage you, receive your scientific advice service, maintain information on our cooperation and fulfill our contractual obligations, we need to collect, store, and use some of your personal data. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest to keep record of the professionals who would be qualified to act as scientific consultants for the clinical studies. We rely on the same legal basis when we use your personal data to improve our internal processes, e.g. we analyse how efficiently we engage with scientific experts.
If PSI might need to respond to a request for the execution of data protection rights, to handle legal cases or perform data breach notifications, PSI shall use the necessary personal data to act on these matters. PSI may be subject to the laws pertaining to clinical research, which may require us to disclose some of your data to the authorities and public, for example via web portals serving transparency purposes. The legal basis for PSI in such cases is the obligation to comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
PSI CRO AG will act as the data controller for this data processing, and in case of legal claims and handling of data breaches and request for the execution of data protection rights, PSI CRO AG and PSI affiliates (https://www.psi-cro.com/global-reach/) share the responsibility for data processing as the joint controllers.
WHICH OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA DO WE COLLECT?
We will need to collect your name, address, telephone, email address, place of work, qualification, education, professional licenses and certificates, work experience, position, professional membership, professional training, publications, awards, clinical trial experience, contract terms, bank account details; invoices and payment-related information, professional opinions and advice. We may already have some of your personal data if you collaborated with us before. We may also collect information available about you in relevant public sources.
WHO WILL HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
Staff of PSI Group companies will have access to your personal data. We may need to share with the study sponsors on whose behalf PSI is conducting clinical studies, some of your personal data that will let them see if your qualifications match the study requirements.
We will also share with the sponsors your professional opinions that you provide to us as the service. Doing so, normally we will not identify you by name. Unless there is a special request from sponsors, we normally will not disclose your name. In case we need to identify you by name, we will reach out for your consent prior to such disclosure and share only if you allow us to do so.
PSI may need to disclose some of your data to the authorities and public if PSI is required to do so by law. When your personal data appear in the publications about the study on the governmental and other industry-related websites, the information will be available to the public. We will also be informing the institution that employs you during your cooperation with PSI, about the payments that PSI transfers to you for your service.
If we use personal data to improve our internal processes, we may need to engage for help professional service providers who may need to access your data. Such providers will be bound by the obligations to comply with all applicable laws and PSI’s instructions.
WHY PSI MAY NEED TO TRANSFER YOUR PERSONAL DATA ABROAD?
When the recipients are located abroad, your personal data may need to be sent or/and accessed from abroad, including to/from countries where the data protection laws may be less strict as compared to the countries of the European Economic Area (EEA)/Switzerland/UK. When PSI shares your data with such parties, we ensure that these recipients of your information, regardless of their location, commit to protect your personal data. PSI and its partners located outside of the EEA/Switzerland/UK implement technical and organizational measures to safeguard your personal data. You can ask PSI to tell you more about these safeguards, including a review of any applicable protective measures.
HOW LONG YOUR PERSONAL DATA WILL BE KEPT?
We would like to keep your data for as long as we expect to have the studies that match your qualifications and other criteria. To make sure that your data are accurate we are committed to make regular checks of our database of scientific advisors. You are encouraged to inform us of the changes to your personal data. We will be happy to correct them, as well as we will stop processing your data upon your request.
HOW TO EXERCISE YOUR RIGHTS REGARDING YOUR PERSONAL DATA
